Introduction

The Crihana Veche Public Library collects, develops, organizes, conserves and makes available to users its collection of ecyclopedias, books and periodicals.

The library offers users free access to lectures, study space, information, documentation and loans. It initiates, organizes and participates in a program to promote traditional culture and one to promote the creation of scientific, cultural and artistic literature.

The librarys collection is organized and developed through purchases, donations and inter-library exchange. The library has over 11,500 books on all topics, organized thematically on open shelves.

Annually, the library serves around 650 readers, in approximately 8200 visits. Annual borrowing is approximately 17000 volumes.

The library has a cultural group Village Hearth.

With the financial support of the SOROS Foundation Moldova, the library completed the projects "Developing the Library Collection" and creating a "Community Center" to access information and provide training.
